All about Midland HIPs

Midland HIPs is owned and operated by Mitchel Tayles, who has extensive commercial experience in the publishing and print industries and has completed the rigorous training required to achieve the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE) level 4 diploma in Home Inspection. Completing all six modules within a year, Mitchel hasn't studied so hard since school.

In addition, Midland HIPs is qualified as a Level 3 Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (L3 NDEA). This means that, in general, we can produce Commercial EPCs for properties up to 2,500m2.

Midland HIPs is not a franchise, not part of a group, so is completely independent and prides itself on offering impartial, professional advice. We provide a prompt, flexible, personal, local service. As a born and bred Midlander, Mitchel has specialist knowledge of Midlands' housing stock.

Midland HIPs works directly with home owners, landlords and businesses to provide all relevant certification and advice. In addition, Midland HIPs works with estate agents, letting agents, solicitors, housing trusts and housing associations to provide an inspection service on their behalf.

October 2009: Midland HIPs nominated for Most Promising Newcomer Award

Midlands HIPs has been nominated as Most Promising Newcomer in the prestigious Bromsgrove Business Showcase Awards for 2009.

Mitchel Tayles: 'I have developed a successful business around offering EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) and Home Information Packs in the teeth of the worst property recession for over a decade! Just obtaining all of the relevant qualifications in order to conduct inspections and offer a complete service was tough: only a tiny percentage of my fellow students completed the courses.

'I have been able to be successful by offering a responsive, independent, great value service. I'm interested in all aspects of property and passionate about helping homeowners and businesses to be able to interpret and act appropriately on the findings and recommendations in EPCs. The 'greening' of homes and businesses will make a huge difference to the nation's carbon footprint, far greater than, say, cutting down on air travel, and of course, can create significant savings in energy bills.

'By offering a high standard of personal service, adding useful information to this site and by utilising up-to-the-minute technology, in, for example, the efficient creation of property floorplans, I've built up a Bromsgrove-based business which is poised to grow significantly as the property recession comes to an end.'
